The Forgetful God By Ola Joseph Kolawale

#VoicesWithin...

"Kai! I did it again! And I swore not to do it again o."
"Don't worry. God is willing to forgive you. In fact, He already did. But clear the air and tell Him you are sorry. Ask for His mercy. You need His grace to be stronger...and to overcome the next temptation and--"
(cuts in) "But I still asked for forgiveness 30 minutes ago. Now I've done it again. It doesn't make any sense asking for forgiveness, afterall, I knew what I was doing while I was doing it...aargggghh. Not again!"
"Seems you are forgetting an important point here: He's forgetful!"
"You said what?"
"You heard me right. He's forgetful, highly."

Do you actually believe God would make a statement like, “I will not hold their sins against them”—and then rub your nose in it whenever you ask for help?” Was He exaggerating when He said He would cast your sins as far as the east is from the west? (Psalm 103:12).

Are you really forgiven? Yes!
Does He really forgive and forget? Yes!

Yes, but you and I don’t. We still remember.

That horrid lie.
That jealousy.
That habit.
That business trip.

But then, do you think God's is the voice that reminds you of your past?
Was God teasing when He said, “I will remember your sins NO MORE?”

Here is what we need: an occasional reminder of God’s nature, His FORGETFUL nature.

It’s against God’s nature to remember forgiven sins. He is the God of perfect grace. Grace forgets. Period.

May we, by His grace, learn to do the same.
