Obasanjo rubbishes National Assembly, says it’s an assembly of thieves, looters

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, today Nov. 26th rubbished the National Assembly, saying it is an Assembly of looters and thieves. He said this while speaking at the public presentation of the autobiography of Justice Mustapha Akanbi, in Abuja. Some of what he said below...
"Apart from shrouding the remunerations of the National Assembly in opaqueness and without transparency, they indulge in extorting money from departments, contractors and ministries in two ways"
"They do so during visits to their projects and programmes and in the process of budget approval when they build up budgets for ministries and departments, who agree to give it back to them in contracts that they do not execute. They do similar things during their inquiries.”
"Corruption in the National Assembly also includes what they call constituency projects which they give to their agents to execute but invariably, full payment is made with little or no job done. In all this, if the executive is not absolutely above board, the offending members of the National Assembly resort to subtle or open threat, intimidation and blackmail. When the executive pay the huge money, normally in millions of dollars, all is quiet in form of whitewashed reports that fail to deal effectively with the issues investigated.”
"When the guard is the thief, only God can keep the house safe and secure. But I am optimistic that sooner than later, we will overcome. God will give us guards of integrity and honesty with the fear of God and genuine love of their people and their country.
“Today, there is no institution of government that is not riddled with corruption, not even the military. As the people cry out, where then is the salvation.” Obasanjo said

Photos: Beauty queen rescued from kidnappers who posed as Aliko Dangote on Facebook

The Lagos state Police command has rescued the current Miss Nigeria International 2014 & daughter of an aide to Kwara state Governor, Miss Sa'adat Bibire, who was abducted two weeks ago by a gang of kidnappers who deceived her to come to Warri, Delta state from Lagos after they promised to make her the ambassador of the Aliko Dangote brand.

The gang, made up of students of the Delta state Polytechnic Ozoro, had opened a Facebook account disguising as Aliko Dangote and contacted Sa'adat. They invited her to Warri with the promise to make her Dangote brand ambassador. On getting to Warri, Sa'adat was kidnapped and taken to a place on the outskirts of Ozoro town in Isoko Local Government Area in Delta state. The kidnappers then contacted her family and asked for N20m ransom, which was supposed to be paid into a Malaysian account.

Parading one of the suspects before newsmen, the Lagos state Police commissioner said a manhunt for the kidnappers was immediately launched after they contacted the girls family but only one of them was arrested while the others are currently on the run.

When interrogated, one of her abductors, 23 year old Patrick Ifada (pictured above), said he was lured into the kidnap gang because of the money offered

"I accepted to join the gang because of the money involved. We opened a fake Facebook account pretending to be Alhaji Aliko Dangote and we convinced her to come over to Delta State to meet the businessman. At first, our ransom was N20 million. When they were not forthcoming with the money, we brought it down to N15 million and then N10 million. I was the one staying with the victim in our hideout. We were using the quarters of one of our members, Destiny. We are five in number and I was promised a huge sum. Other gang members are Destiny, Marcus Omajuwa, Ugada and Chuka. We are all students of Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro, ND 1. I was studying Computer Science. She was in our hideout for about two weeks. We asked the Special Adviser to pay the ransom into a Malaysian account that one Fred helped us to set up. None of us raped her. Destiny told us we were only going to make money from her family, and not to assault her" he told Vanguard

The wife of one of the kidnappers was arrested alongside Patrick.

Awww...twins become dads on the same day, at the same hospital

Twin brother Jeromme and Jarelle beat 150,000-1 odds to become dads on the same day at the same hospital by the same midwife after their partners gave birth on Monday November 24th. And they both had baby boys.

According to UK Mirror, the twins were initially shocked when told their partners had the same due date of Nov. 26, but neither believed they would both be celebrating on that date. But remarkably, the pair became fathers within a few hours of each other when their sons were born at New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton in the early hours of Monday.

Incredibly, both babies were born in the same water pool in the same room and were delivered by the same midwife.

Jeromme's partner Tegan Compton, 19, was first to give birth when 8lb 7oz Cameron arrived into the world at 2.04am on Monday morning.

Jarrell's girlfriend Francesca Ashe, 19, then followed suit when she delivered 7lb 11oz Cassen two-and-a-half hours later at 4.34am.

Jeromme, who works in a sports shop, said: "We knew that our partners were both given the same due date, but we just never expected the births to be really on the same day.

"Tegan and me came in first and little Cameron was born just a few hours later. Then the pool was washed and cleaned, and we handed over to Jarrell and Francesca."

Jarrell, who works for a catering firm, added: "We got here at about two in the morning and we could hear someone's voice and I said, 'that's Tegan'.

"Mum was with me so when Tegan gave birth she went over to see her grandson and then a couple of hours later she had another one. It is absolutely amazing that we became fathers of sons on the same day. It is great for everyone and everyone at the hospital was great."

Midwife Barbara Kapoor, who delivered both babies, said: "I have never ever heard of this happening before. It is amazing."

Alex Donohue, from Ladbrokes bookmakers, added: "This is so rare. The odds of it happening are at least 150,000 - 1."

Better Is On The Way

BETTER-IS-ON-THE-WAY
Poor hubby.

He has a terrible toothache.

And an earache caused by the tooth trouble.

In a couple weeks, after Kenya has all four of his wisdom teeth removed, the aching in both his ear and mouth will subside.

At least after he recovers.

Although he isn’t looking forward to the oral surgery, he would much rather endure the temporary discomfort for a few days after the extractions, than to deal with these awful symptoms indefinitely.

Since I’ve never had my wisdom teeth removed, I listened carefully as he told me what to expect following this process.

He is expected to be very sore. Possibly swollen. He won’t be able to eat solid food.

None of that sounds fun.

Again, he is not exactly clicking his heels together, but earlier today, he told me, “I can’t wait to get these teeth pulled!”

Painful recovery and all.

Kenya just wants to be over this issue as fast as possible.

Very often, life is like Kenya’s wisdom teeth saga.

Lessening the pain of our present situation is desirable. And yet, we have to go through undesirable circumstances to make things better.

No pain, no gain. No cross, no crown. No wilderness, no Promised Land. No rain, no reign.

It makes me think about the Children of Israel.

When they were enslaved under cruel Egyptian masters, they undoubtedly wanted to be free. In Exodus 3:7, God said His chosen people were crying out because of the mistreatment they were enduring.

His people were suffering.

So the Lord sent Moses to release them.

In order to break free, however, the Israelites had to leave Egypt behind and walk through miles and miles of desert, without the kind of food they had grown accustomed to.

The transition was hard.

Of course, being brutalized and enslaved was hard too. Without God’s hand intervening, they would have most certainly remained in bondage forever.

If they didn’t want to accept indefinite servitude, they had to deal with the temporary discomfort of treading through the wilderness until they reached the “land flowing with milk and honey”.

Sometimes, even Egypt looked appealing on Israel’s hungriest and thirstiest days.

In Exodus 16:3, while feeling frustrated and disillusioned with their “limited menu options,” they complained to Moses and Aaron. "If only we had died by the LORD's hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death” they said.

They looked back at the lesser on their way to greater, because they didn’t know how to deal with the in-between.

Have you ever felt like that—as if you were stuck between desolation and destiny? Were you at one time aggravated by the meantime experience?

Perhaps you’re there right now.

If so, I want to tell you something: the journey is worth it. The sacrifices, tears and work it takes to step into your season of better are not in vain.

You may be studying hard in college, striving to earn that degree; fighting for a relationship you know God ordained that is currently going through a rough patch; working more than one job to make ends meet; pushing through the pain of exercise and making the sacrifice of healthy eating to take better care of your body; releasing a long-held offense and forgiving someone who did you wrong so you can experience God’s best for your life; waiting and praising on the other side of a closed door, believing God to open it.

If you are currently trusting God for better, while things around you seem to be getting worse, don’t give into discouragement.

Walk through this trial, knowing that, on the other side, He indeed has more for you.

As long as you walk in obedience to His will, even when He carries you through a dry place, you will come out victorious.

But as the saying goes, you have to go through to get to.

2 Timothy 2:12 lets us know that we must suffer with Christ in order to reign with Him. So don’t retreat from life and throw in the towel because it challenges you.

Don’t settle for worse, because you’re afraid of what it takes to have better. March forward in faith. Trust God to bring you up out of this low place, no matter how slow and arduous the climb.

He will never leave you. He won’t forsake you.

To help you remember this truth, I’m stirring one of my many favorite encouraging scriptures into your cup of inspiration. This one is found in Isaiah 41:10 ESV, which says, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

As you drink down the contents of your cup, know that this is not the end. You will bear fruit in your life if you remain connected to Jesus Christ, the true vine (John 15).

Apart from Him, you can do nothing.

Through Him, all things are possible--even the betterment of the worst circumstances.

Don't doubt.

Only believe.

Better is on the way!

Now let’s pray.

Cup-of-prayer

God, I thank You that better is coming. Despite what it looks like right now and how difficult things are, I know You have a good plan for my life. Even when my world feels like it’s falling apart, I trust that You will cause all things to work together for my good at the appointed time. In the meantime, I anticipate great things and I praise You in advance for them. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
